I wish I was in a better mood today. I am sad and angry and not myself. I received an email over the weekend that a soccer coach of my daughters had died. He was young…maybe late 30s early 40s? He had a heart attack on the field during a lacrosse game. He was a fabulous coach…I requested him season after season before Erin went to the travel team. Enthusiastic and encouraging. You couldnt know a kinder man.
I cant help but think of his poor wife and twin girls. I imagine myself in that situation and I cant even breathe thinking about it. My heart is broken for them.
The wake is thursday and I will go with Erin. She will wear her jersey to show her respect and support for his family like all the other players will. And as for me? I will hug his wife and offer whatever support I can. Then as soon as my husband gets home from his business trip I will hug him too and be grateful.
Today I will continue to smile even though I am sad. Thats life and how the game is played I guess. Today is for you Coach Kurt…see you on the pitch. 😦
I usually dont post on the weekend but since I was away I figured I would try to write something this morning.
Its a beautiful day here in Nesconset…sunny but very windy! The wind was whipping last night while we had our family movie night. We watched Night at the Museum. The kids enjoyed it alot since we were at the museum only a few weeks ago.
SO what do I have on the needles? I am almost done with the cutest little baby dress made out of Frog Tree Picoboo yarn.Yay! I posted a picture! Anyway its soo cute! And the yarn is super yummy. The only thing I did differently is I added 2 rows of reverse stockinette to the ruffle so it doesnt roll.
Also on the needles is a sweater from Berroco. Its the Kiama sweater. Its knit in Origami. And heres a picture!Im having way too much fun with adding pictures to this blog! SO this sweater has an interesting construction. Basically you knit the sleeves and back as a yoke and then pick up and knit the rest of the sweater down.
Drive by posting today! Im back from vacation…everyone had a great time even though one of my girls got a stomach bug and gave it to husband. It derailed us for a day but we made up for it the last day. I skied, rode a horse, drove a buggy…I was an alpha female! 🙂 Also got some knitting done which was a plus.
New in the store are Addi Click sets…Bamboo, Lace and Turbo. I brought in a few single tips and cables for those who want to try them out. Also new colors of Litoral from Aslan Trends…this is flying off the shelves! New colors of Amity Prints for kids and some more Balance from OWool.
Got to get this all on the shelves so I am off. I have 3 little helpers today so this will hopefully go quickly!
Thank God its friday? Thank Goodness its Fiber? Well which ever it is I am thankful!
I am fighting off a cold. UGH! My nose wont stop running and its driving me crazy. So dont be alarmed if you come in and see me with a tissue shoved up my nose. This always happens when I miss a few nights sleep as I did this week. Sometimes there are not enough hours in the day.
So Sherry is in Reno so I was in the store last night until 7pm. It was quiet so i figured it was a good time to assess my stock of Cotton Classic since new colors are coming in soon. Well I found 2 baskets full of discontinued colors and odd dye lots! My find is your good luck. They are waiting in the clearance section of the store at 50% off! Dont miss out on the savings!
Today my mission is to get out some new Berroco yarns that I ordered for spring. They have been staring at me through the boxes and enough is enough! Between that and getting the babe yarn out today…and trying to get my nose to stop running…well I think I will have my hands full.
Did you see that snow last night? Just a dusting but it looked so pretty coming down. Its pretty much all gone. Although its sunny it is so chilly out. Bundle up if you are going out today!
So I received a box of base metal findings the other day. Although I am still sorting it out and packing it up, I wanted to let everyone know….slide claps are back!! I found them on 2 hole 4 hole and 5 hole sizes in gold, silver, gunmetal and copper base metal. Yay!!! What else is in the box? Some crimp beads, jump rings and head pins. I am excited to have the store stocked up again with these essentials for beading. I have some pretty chain too in gold and silver base metal.
Knitting for baby? Well I just got in Babe yarn. This is a nylon washable DK weight yarn and its sooooo soft. Perfect for all things baby. Also in is Rumples yarn. This is a ruffling yarn similar to Flounce but in brighter springier colors.
Whats on the horizon? Well I am ordering some fiber for my spinning friends. From Frabjous Fibers in Vermont we will have Polwarth, Merino and BFL fiber …all hand dyed in fabulous colorways! I just placed the order and it is being dyed so in about a month we will have fiber!! WOOHOO!
What a beautiful day here in NY! Perfect for a ticker tape parade! My kids really wanted to go into the city today to see the Giants Victory Parade but alas…I have no cell phone and husband was pretty adamant he didnt want me in the crowds with the 10, 8 and 5 year olds alone without a cell phone. I tried to explain to him that there was life before cell phones but he wasnt buying it. He told the kids he promised when the Jets win a Super Bowl we will be there for the parade…I thought to myself well…I wont hold my breath for that! Good thing he doesnt read this blog.
Spring yarns are making their way into the store. Once I clear out a little bit more I will start getting everything on the shelves.
Dont forget we still have 3 tables full of clearance yarns and dont forget if you mention you read my blog you get an additional 10% off the already discounted price!

I was getting ready to post to the blog yesterday and this computer…UGH! It froze up and well that was end of my posting! But Im back today.
So Im sure everyone knows what this sunday is….GO GIANTS! We are normally a Jets household (even though they stink) but we are a NY Football house this year! I was listening to the radio this morning and the DJ was saying how many people in NY dislike (he used another word) New England. Do I dislike New England?…YES! Its not personal though…Im sure they are lovely off the field.
Anyway to celebrate the big day I will be holding a special sale this Sunday. Keep an eye out for an email detailing it all! It will be early so it wont interfere with kick off! 🙂
On the yarn front I received a new yarn called Rumples yesterday. This is similar to Flounce (ruffling scarf yarn) but a little thinner. Nice for spring..or anytime! Only $12 a ball.
Dont forget about our overflowing clearance table…mention you read my blog and I will give you an extra 10% off the already discounted price of all bagged clearance yarn!
Its going to be 60 degrees here today. HELLO MOTHER NATURE???? Are you aware this is February in New York???? I dont know how to dress anymore. Should I be knitting for spring with this warm weather or is it just a tease and I should stick with wool??? SIGH!
SO yesterday we got in some lovely yarns…I could have sat and just hugged them all day but alas there was work to be done! On the shelves right now is some beautiful Mountain Colors Twizzle and Monarch. Seriously fabulous yardage and colors. Also from mountain Colors Bearfoot and Crazyfoot sock yarn! Sock Knitters! You must come in and take a peak at this beautiful yarn! Dont knit socks? Well these would be perfect for a lightweight shawl or scarf!
Also in from Aslan Trends is Litoral. This is a beautiful scarf yarn…1 skein makes our sample in the store. How can you beat that for $9.75?
On its way to the store is Babe yarn. This baby yarn is a dream…great yardage, fabulous price point. Perfect for all spring baby/toddler sweaters. I am starting the sample for the store today…2 balls makes a sweater!
Lastly…looking for a bargin? With Marions help yesterday I filled the clearance table with some wonderful yarns…its overflowing. So stop in and get a great deal on some really beautiful yarns…like what you may ask? Twisted Sister, Katia and Jaeger Mohair, Artyarns and Skacel Urban Silk to name a few.
On that note I better get going…busy day! Oh and I havent found my phone yet so call me at the store if you need me! 🙂
